Press release
Düsseldorf-based cellphone network E-Plus is currently running a nationwide outdoor advertising campaign for the flat rates offered by its BASE cellphone brand. BASE also uses the posters to address consumers directly. This can be done quickly and easily via Vooh!, the new app from Ströer. After simply downloading it to a smartphone, Vooh! turns the device's camera function on by itself, and if the consumer photographs a poster, a new software feature recognizes the image and connects the phone with the new price rates offered by BASE. "This turns Vooh! into a direct portal between the analog and virtual, digital environments for our customers' target groups," explains Christian von den Brincken, managing director for marketing and strategies at Ströer. "It opens up a whole new range of communication concepts to our customers because it makes it possible for them to create direct, interactive ways of involving consumers." "With Vooh!, BASE and Ströer have created an entirely new approach to communicating with people. Ahead of the curve and ahead of our competitors, we give customers more than just posters. They get the background information that they need, flexibly and fast, at the touch of a button. In Ströer, we have found a strategic partner who shares our love of new, innovative customer experiences," says so Dr. Andreas Gregori, Chief Marketing Officer at the E-Plus. The campaign was launched in the week starting May 16 and in the decade 14 on megalights, city light posters, premium CLP, city light columns, premium billboards, big screens and infoscreens in 44 towns and cities. Media agency Initiative Media from Hamburg was responsible for the overall planning of the campaign, and special agency IT Works from Düsseldorf oversaw the implementation of the outdoor ad campaign.Vooh! stands for "Virtual Out-of-Home" and means that posters can be turned into an interactive, playful space for advertisers using what is now the world's most popular mobile device - smartphones. Vooh! can be used as a digital extension to outdoor advertising campaigns regardless of the out-of-home media selected by advertising customers - it complements posters, transport-based ads and digital out-of-home media.
